St. James UMC is the site of a HUB for UMCOR, United Methodist Committee on Relief. We collect supplies needed for cleaning buckets, hygiene kits, and school kits. We assemble the kits or verify kits that were assembled elsewhere. The kits are transported to Mission Central, where they are distributed as needed. We conduct a hygiene kit drive in the spring and school kit drive in late summer. We also have volunteers that sew pocket prayers – a nice reminder for people to know that our congregation is praying for them.

More pocket prayers needed: Our Pocket Prayer quilt squares have been in high demand at the local hospitals and they are running low. If you have been sewing pocket prayers, please bring them to the church so they can be delivered to the hospitals.

Attention Knitters and Crocheters: We are running low on prayer shawls. While you are spending more time indoors in the cool fall weather, this would be a good time to do some knitting or crocheting. Cheryl Barb has kits in the HUB which include yarn and instructions. See Cheryl if you would like to help.
